FAQ’s – Questions to ask your wedding photographer
With so many professional photographers out there we appreciate it can be difficult to make the right choice. Putting cost, albums, and experience to one side just for a second we believe the most important question you need to ask yourself is “can I get along with this person?”. Put simply, do you ‘click’. If not, then walk away. As professional Cheshire wedding photographers we will not be offended, we truly understand the need to have the ‘right’ person photograph your special day.
Of course many other factors need to be considered so we have put together this question and answer page to help you consider some of the questions you need to be asking when you meet your photographer. Us included! We hope it is of some help……
Q. Are you insured?
Yes we are. We have Professional Indemnity Insurance arranged through Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance Ltd and additionally we also carry full Public Liability Insurance. Copies can be supplied on request and for peace of mind please do.
Q. Do you contract photographic work out?
No, never. Ian and Cathy assure you of our personal attention at all times.
Q. Do you have back up equipment?
Yes, we attend each wedding with a full range of back up equipment. For example, we bring along additional professional camera bodies, lenses and flash equipment to cover every eventuality so no matter the weather on the day, we have it covered.
Q. Do you insist on a written contract?
Yes, we consider it vital to do so. Most importantly it will give you peace of mind and it sets out clearly our obligations to you.
Q. What is the Guests Order of Photography Sheet?
It is just one of those little extra things Cathy and I do and we find it helps organise the group shots that you request. Please ask to see one at our first meeting.
Q. What do you mean by All Day Photography?
Simply that. Ok, we won’t be with you 24 hours but we will start at whatever time you need us for the bridal preparations and work right through the day, generally finishing around 10pm.
Q. Do you keep back up copies of our images?
We most certainly do. We hold two copies of your images on external drives which are in different locations and we also burn the images to DVD’s which are securely stored off site.
Q. Do you offer a Pre-wedding Shoot?
If you would like a pre-wedding shoot then we will arrange a lifestyle shoot at a location of your choice. It can be great fun and gives you to the opportunity to be comfortable in front of a camera. Best of all, there is no extra charge for this service. We will present you with all of the images on a disc with a licence for you to arrange your own prints.
Q. What happens if you fall ill on the morning of our wedding?
A great question! It has not happened yet and although it could happen rest assured we have it covered. When your day is booked we always ensure that a local photographer of the same professional standing is available on your date for just this eventuality. Of course, should you have asked us for a 2nd photographer on the day you are already at an advantage. We can supply you with a list of photographers that we may call on, ask about it at our meeting.
