We were delighted when Rebecca & Graham selected us as their wedding photographers and this week we met up with them at Mottram Hall for a pre-wedding meeting. This Cheshire venue is truly stunning and certainly suits Rebecca and Grahams style of wedding and we cannot wait for the big day next month.

Your Pre-Wedding Photo Shoot – What to wear?

As we approach the busy part of the year Cathy and I have a few pre-wedding photography shoots to complete and so we thought we should write this very short article on what to wear. Why you may ask, well we have found that it’s not uncommon for couples to call us the day before their planned shoot and understandably ask for advice. So, here are a few thoughts that may help you.

Time of Year / Weather

Ok, this should be obvious but do try to dress according to the weather, you will feel much more comfortable. Think of layers.

Location

Give some thought to your choice of location for the photo shoot. Does your choice of clothing blend in with the surroundings? Ok, maybe you do want to contrast and wear that gorgeous evening dress in the park (it has been known!) but you may simply want to fit in with your surroundings.
How will you use your location? Will you be sitting, running or even climbing trees?

Personal Style

Consider what you enjoy doing together. Thinking about how you usually dress when you go out together can certainly point you in the right direction.
Are you going for a theme?
How do you feel? Romantic, casual or adventurous? Try to choose clothes that will evoke the kind of feeling you are looking for in your images.

Old or New

Plan what you will wear well in advance as we have found that leaving it to the last minute can, on occasion, create stress. It will show in your images.
You could use this as a good excuse to go shopping. We all feel good when we are wearing something new.

Colour / Pattern

Some of our couples like to match the colours of their clothing. Of course, that is your decision but if you are not going to match then we would like to suggest that your clothing should compliment each other.
Solid colours are preferred over bright patterns as Cathy and i would really like the focus of attention to be on you.
A classic look that transcends current fashion can be timeless, you want to cherish these images for years to come.

As our free pre-wedding photography sessions last 2 hours or more Cathy and I also suggest that you consider two different looks. For example, by having two jackets and a range of accessories along with you, completely different looks can be achieved in the one session.

The most important thing to remember, above all else, is to be comfortable. This will help you relax in front of the camera.

Golden Wedding Anniversary

We were delighted last week to be invited along to photograph Eddie & Isobel Jones who were celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary at Stockport Golf Club, another great venue in Cheshire for a wedding or celebration party.

Every occasion we photograph is very different and each has its own memorable moments; one of the most memorable moments of the day for us was to witness the true love and devotion Eddie and Isobel have for each other 50 years on. Congratulations to you both.

George in Tuscany

You may be wondering why we have not updated this blog for a few weeks, well the reason is simply that Cathy and I have been on holiday. Each year we try to visit Italy for at least a week and on this occasion we stayed in Siena which is an ideal base to visit the main sites in Tuscany. A beautiful place.

One of our highlights was to meet up with good friends for lunch in Il Campo, the central square of Siena. Carol and Chris Davies were on honeymoon with their lovely, but rather active son George who has just turned 1 year old. It was a delight to see them again and catch up especially since we not not seen them since taking images of George shortly after his birth. Boy has he grown! He’s is one active young man and being naturally inquisitive of all around him he was soon off running around the Il campo with me trying hard to keep up. Anyway, it was a fantastic opportunity to capture some great images of him so we thought we should place a few here and share them with you.

2011 UKWP Bridal Shoot

This coming weekend there is a fabulous bridal shoot taking place in Leeds, Yorkshire and we are delighted to have been invited as photographers to this prestigious event. Set in beautiful surroundings some of the UKs most talented photographers, models, make up artists and suppliers will come together to develop their skills and learn the latest techniques. It is going to be an action packed weekend for everyone and our thanks go especially to Paula Brown for all her hard work in organising this event. Wedding Photography at the Bridge Hotel, Prestbury, Cheshire

Deep in the heart of Cheshire lies the lovely and unspoilt village of Prestbury. As a Cheshire Wedding Photographer we were delighted to be invited last week to photograph the wedding of Margaret and Phil at the Bridge Hotel, one of the UKs most respected family run hotels. Not only is it a perfect wedding venue providing luxurious guest accommodation, it has a beautifully landscaped garden leading down to a picturesque bridge over the river Bollin which provides the perfect backdrop for your wedding images.

Luck was on our side as the weather was just perfect for Margaret and Phils special day, warm and sunny. Following a most elegant civil ceremony the wedding party celebrated with champagne in the private garden and with much joy and laughter we arranged the group photographs. As professional wedding photographers we understand that weddings are a time when families get together for what may be the first time in years so it is important that we capture these images. With good planning we managed to take 29 group shots within 1 hour and we are sure Margaret and Phil will cherish these pictures for years to come.

The wedding party then enjoyed a terrific wedding breakfast followed by some moving, and extremely funny, speeches by the Groom and Best Man. We have not laughed so much for ages! The evening party then commenced and the fun and celebration continued late into the night. Margaret and Phil, thank you for allowing us to be a part of your special day, we met as strangers but certainly ended the day feeling we had met lovely new friends.

Below are a small selection of images from the day, they are just a taste of what we captured during day and we cannot wait to meet you again after your honeymoon. Enjoy!
